Welcome to The Hub School

Science

Intent Statement

At The Hub, we have designed our Science curriculum to engage and excite our students, providing a high challenge environment, individually scaffolded to meet the needs of all our learners.

As a department, we take great pride in ensuring that our students are aware of how science can apply to the real world, and the incredible opportunities it can provide us with. From treatment of disease to fixing electrical circuits, to solving crimes and understanding the universe around us, our curriculum is sequenced not only to build knowledge, but to inspire all children.

Our curriculum strives to meet the same level of challenge a student would encounter in a mainstream school, but approaches the content from a much more practical perspective. This allows out students to build up a huge repertoire of transferrable skills, while solidifying their knowledge.

Our curriculum is both broad and balanced, offering Biology, Chemistry and Physics throughout Key Stage 3. Our Key Stage 4 cohorts are then able to take a number of routes to gaining qualifications, including the AQA Unit Award Scheme or one of the three AQA GCSE Single Sciences. Currently, our Key Stage 4 cohort are completing the AQA GCSE Biology qualification.
