Enrichment Curriculum at The Hub
At The Hub Alternative Provision Centre we believe that it is vital to offer enrichment activities to support the personal development of each and every student in our care. It is not only academic success that will ensure all of our young people thrive and achieve in the future, but also the wider activities and experiences that we offer that help to build our students’ confidence, resilience and social skills. Our enrichment programme provides learning experiences which are different from the normal classroom experience and enables students to:
- Learn skills they might not necessarily acquire in a classroom;
- Develop leadership skills;
- Develop team-building skills;
- Develop new interests;
- Serve the wider community;
- Learn to cope with new challenges;
Students experience a wide variety of enrichment activities at The Hub ranging from visits to Escape Indoor Ski Centre in Castleford to climbing at Bridlington School’s state of the art climbing wall to The Hull Victorian Christmas Carnival. Swimming and Ten Pin Bowling are very popular with the students along with the Technology Club, Chess Club and Art & Crafts club. Our KS4 students enjoy a weekly visit to the local sports centre which not only promotes exercise and fitness as a positive life choice but also supplements their L1 Btec Sports course.
As well as being fun, these clubs provide a therapeutic and creative environment in which the students are able express themselves and further develop their social interaction skills.
